Growing With Green - November 7, 2016

We had such a busy week!  We learned about pumpkins and were given prior information about clues to look for that are indicators of how many seeds are inside a pumpkin.  We made a good guess as to which pumpkin we thought had the most seeds and which pumpkin had the least seeds.  We cut the pumpkins open and counted the seeds in groups by ones, twos, fives and tens.  This week we will analyze the data.

We finished our first “Turkey Math” activity which involved simple addition equations. Within the next couple of weeks we will move onto subtraction. The students are busy working on ST Math in class and most of the students have also been working at home.  If you haven’t yet started ST Math at home and would like to, all you need to do is log in using stmath.com from any computer or iPad.  The students all know their passwords and are able to open up the program.

This will be our last newsletter until after Thanksgiving.  Next week we will be busy completing projects for Parent Conferences.  Look for the reminder for your conference date and time in your child’s folder, if you haven’t already sent yours in. Conferences will be held during the week of November 15-18. Look for your child’s progress report the week of conferences.  We are looking forward to seeing you at our first parent-teacher-child conference.  Please make every effort to be on time.

The attached book orders are due by Monday, November 14th.  This will be the last book order until January so stock up for the holidays!
