Growing With Green - February 20, 2017

Last week was a very busy week.  On Tuesday we held our extraordinary Valentine’s Day party with activities organized by our wonderful Deedee (Larkin’s mom)!! We decorated Oreo pops, made fruit loop heart necklaces, played heart beanbag toss, made love crowns, played Valentine’s bingo, and decorated rocks. We delivered our * cards to each other and had a wonderful day!  Thank you to all of the parents who came in to help us. We couldn’t have done it without you! =)

On Thursday, we held our 14th annual Open School Institute. The participants enjoyed the many demonstrations and workshops throughout the school. We had visitors come through Green Cluster to observe Calendar Math and our lesson on gratitude. Some of the students participated in the Attribute Block workshop, as well as, a demonstration on coding with Cubetto the cube robot. They did an amazing job!

On Thursday, February 23, we will have our annual Readathon kick-off.  The Readathon will take place for three weeks from Thursday, February 23 through Thursday, March 16. We do not yet know this year’s theme, but it is always an exciting three weeks for the Open School community.  More information about the Readathon to follow.

We will continue with the oral and written analysis of our horizontal heart graphs. We are also continuing activities with attribute blocks. This week we will be learning the sound of “Nn” and the sight word “was,” and continuing with our Label Booklets in Writing Workshop
