Growing With Green - March 6, 2017

Last week we began our study of the five senses. During the next few months we will be investigating each of the five senses in detail. We are integrating their understanding of the senses with our Poetry Unit. The children are looking at ordinary objects (sticks, leaves, rocks, etc.) and generating poetry using the five senses. The children continue to work on Math Packets during their free time. This week we will be working on the letter “P” (“P” is for Peewee Penguin) and the sight word “at.”

This past week of the Readathon was very successful.  Green Cluster students already earned bookmarks and an Island’s kids meal certificate!  Please continue to read with your child for 20 minutes/5 days a week and RETURN YOUR “TAKE HOME READING LOG” ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 8th and the 15th.

Looking Ahead:

We are looking forward to our field trip to the Skirball Cultural Center to see the Noah’s Ark exhibit on March 30th. Unfortunately, the  Skirball Center allows for only a specific amount of adult chaperones, so we aren’t able to extend the invite to all of our families.

We will be celebrating the arrival of spring with our annual Green Cluster Egg Hunt.  This year we will be hunting for eggs on Friday, April 21st.  The children will be making insect, butterfly and flower baskets to celebrate spring.  We will be needing lots of supplies for this event.  More information to follow.

** The attached book orders are due back on Monday, March 13th.
