Growing With Green - May 8, 2017

We have a busy week ahead of us! This week we will be continuing our unit on money in preparation for Shopping Day! We have already worked on recognizing coins and now we are going to be working on their value.  We also started a new unit in Writing Workshop on non-fiction books. We made a list of expert ideas for our “How-to” books. Some expert ideas included: “How to Make Guacamole,” “How to Relax,” “How to Make Friends,” and even “How to Scare Dinosaurs!!”  On Wednesday we are planning to continue our unit on the senses focusing in on hearing. What was that you said? =) The attached activity sheet can be completed after the lesson has been presented.

Shopping Day will take place on Thursday, May 25, from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m.  We will provide the children with $1.00 worth of coins to shop with, so please do not send in money.  The children will name the different stores and design store front signs for them.  Each shop willbe filled with special inventory that we have purchased.  The children will be able to purchase and keep the items from the different stores, so this is an actual shopping experience!  We will need lots of shopkeepers to run the different stores. Please sign up on the attached sheet.  It is one of our favorite activities of the year . . . so “Come on down and Shop ‘til you drop!”
