Indigo Update

It was fantastic sitting down with all of you and your children during Fall Student-led Conferences as we heard your students share about their hard work, fun, and progress they have made thus far this year. Children's honesty and desire to better themselves is always a source of inspiration and it is our highest goal and greatest desire to help them set and accomplish goals, reach their potential and develop has healthy, kind human beings.

Though it's December, we absolutely have to take a moment to extend the season of gratitude and thank you for your partnership. We want to honor all of you who have been such a wonderful support to our classroom.  While we appreciate all that you all do, we extend a special thank you to Mira (Vivienne’s Mom) for securing the super hard-to-get reservation for that awesome JPL field trip we were able to experience.  And let's not forget a special thank you to all of the wonderful chaperones that joined us on both of our trips so far, all the wonderful volunteers that provided assistance during conference week, and of course to all of you that donated the fantastic books from the Book Fair that we already started using!  We truly have so much to be grateful for!!!!  You all truly are shining stars in our world!

Wait.......did someone say stars???  We just so happen to be headed to the stars ourselves.  We have begun the next journey on our explorations of space this year and have been learning all about stars, constellations, nebulae, and can’t wait to have our students apply their knowledge while completing their class projects. We will be working on a project next week and are in need of toilet tissue rolls, 2-3 rolls of aluminum foil, 3-4 bags of red tinsel, hot glue sticks, and tissue paper.

Homework

Our schedule over the next few weeks before our Winter Break will be quite a departure from the norm. We are asking, however that students stay the the usual course with homework during this time and even spend time over the holiday reading some good books and maintaining good progress on ST Math.  Regarding your child's fact practice,  we are meeting with students in small groups and hope to be finished and sending home current steps with new fact packets on Monday and Tuesday. Also, Family Math Night is on Tuesday so come have some fun and learn about some of the math games your child is playing at school that might also be fun to play at home.

Winter Holiday Concert

Please make sure your child is practicing the songs for the Winter Concert as the day is quickly approaching.  We would like to have both songs memorized by the end of next week.  Our students do not need to wear anything in particular, but should come dress nice and comfortable (especially the shoes) to make sure they are able to get safely on the risers. There will be three show options for you to enjoy. Check Thursday's backpack for details.

Indigo’s Holiday Family Feast

Each year, we look forward to our Holiday Family Feast where we invite all members of the Indigo Cluster family to come and share some holiday cheer, fellowship, and enjoy some good food together. We hope you will join us for lunch on Friday, December 20th and bring a dish that represents your family's favorite holiday vittles. Keep an eye out for more details including a Sign Up Genius for food items to be shared and an RSVP request so we know if you are able to join us. Also, since that Friday is a full day of school this year, we are hoping a few of you will come a little early to share some holiday cheer and help oversee a couple of fun activities. Look for more details from our awesome room parent team on Indigo's Holiday Family Feast. Hope to see you there!

Scholastic Book Orders

Book Order Forms are being sent home on Friday.  The orders will be due on Tuesday,  December 10, 2019 so that we can have them in time for the holidays. If you are purchasing these books for your child as a gift and would like me to hold onto the order when it arrives so that your child doesn’t see it, please email us and let us know.  I will contact you when the order arrives to arrange for pick-up.  The hope is that the order will arrive by the Winter Concert on Wednesday, December 18th and you can pick it up when you come to the show.  You may order online at scholastic.com/readingclub. The Class Activation Code is MLF3N.  There is no need to send in any money as you will be able to take care of all your ordering and payment online.
