Open Teachers Receive Mini-Grant Funding

Each year, the Playa Venice Sunrise Rotary Club and LAX Coastal Chamber of Commerce partner to donate small grants to local teachers with their Teacher Mini-Grant program.  The funds are raised through generous donations from community members.  This year, 22 local schools received a total of 67 grants ranging in amount from $60 to $400.

Open teachers received $1400 in funds to support classroom projects and supplies to support learning and growth in our clusters:

  • Silver Cluster received $200 for more leveled books to support all readers
  • Red Cluster received $400 to purchase leveled non-fiction books to ensure there are non-fiction books at all levels of reading
  • Orange Cluster received $400 to purchase digital cameras to support their exploration of the world
  • Purple Cluster received $200 to build stream tables to support learning about Geology and using the Investigative Procedure
  • Blue Cluster received $200 for new supplies for the STOMP performance

Funding for the Teacher Mini-Grants is from contributions from RS&H, INC., LAX Coastal Education Foundation, M & M Foundation (The Plotkin Family), Playa Sunrise Rotary Foundation, Southern California Gas Company, Jim Bunch Memorial Fund, Sarlo Tax Service, SuperbTech, Inc., Gail Goldstein, Howard Pollack - Rainbow Acres Natural Foods, Joe and Maria Davis.
