We have numerous events throughout the year, designed to engage the collective Open School family and also raise money at the same time. Friends of the Open School is responsible for organizing the fundraising efforts at the Open School. 

We hope you will participate in all of our events as a volunteer, organizer or attendee and we look forward to your support and enthusiasm.

Donations Sought for 2019 Online Auction (Article)

The annual online auction is one of Open School's most popular fundraisers.  It helps pay for our kids' gardening, music, arts, and PE programs, while providing an (inevitably exciting) opportunity for parents to bid on valuable listings!  This year the auction opens on March 8th. Bidding is open to the general public.

Tomorrow: Jonathan Planning Meeting (Article)

We are getting a head-start on one of Open School’s most beloved events: the annual Jog-a-thon!

Please join us for our first planning meeting tomorrow, Friday, February 22nd at 8:15 a.m. in the Teachers' Lounge. The meeting will be about 45 - 60 minutes long. We would love to hear your ideas and start to plan an exciting day for our school.

Readathon - Reading Logs are Due Tomorrow 2/20 (Article)

Readathon parent reminder: reading logs are due at school tomorrow, Wednesday morning in their envelopes so we can include any pins or Gringotts bank notes earned. Please help total and confirm your childrens' total minutes with your initials.

Join us for Rock Roll & Run! (Article)

On Saturday, March 9th, 7:30 a.m. - 1 p.m., join us for a *FUN RUN* on the LMU campus to Rock Roll & Run for Open School!  This is a wonderful community event with live-music, booths, pancakes and families from area schools.  The price is $30 for adults, $25 for kids (under 12) for the 5K and $20 for the 1K Kids' Run.  

Readathon's Magic Begins! (Article)

Open’s annual Readathon launched today at assembly on February 14th and continues until March 7th!  It was revealed that this year's Readathon theme is "The Open School of Reading & Wizardry" inspired by the Harry Potter series.

Buy & Sell Tickets for a Chance to Win Our Annual Raffle Prizes! (Article)

Our spectacular Annual Raffle has been launched, and it is incredibly important that it is a huge success, as proceeds continue to support our specialized programs and technology. A detailed letter and ticket booklets have been distributed this week, so please check your child’s backpack for their personalized envelope, which you may use to return your stubs and payments.

The Fall Book Fair kicked off in the Library after school today and will run throughout Conference Week until Friday, November 16th.  Stop by the Open School Library to pick up books for your family, friends, your child’s cluster, or the Open Library collection.

Thank you to everyone for another successful Campout. 

Special thanks to Scott Henry, Tami Hachiya and Joanna Bressel-Wilder for keeping everyone full and hydrated; Eric Weingrad and Jeanine Wright for lighting up the night with evening activities; Allison Vazarlly and Susan Lillestol for keeping our kids busy with arts & crafts and the many volunteers who jumped in and helped wherever needed.
