USC K-4 Free Online Summer School Opportunities (Article)

The Rossier School of Education at the University of Southern California is offering a FREE summer program for students entering Kindergarten to Grade 4 from July 6th to 23rd.

City Showcase: After much discussion with a variety of people, we have decided that the best time to share Yellow Cluster’s city with you is on Saturday, June 5th from 10 - 1.  We can have 8 groups of 4 or fewer people in the same household come at a time.  The city will be set up in the bus parking lot.  Everyone who comes will need to respect distancing guidelines, wear a mask, and show us an LAUSD daily pass (you can get one without a COVID test).  Please use this link to sign up for a time slot.  Unfort

Please continue to remind your child to look at our Google Classroom stream every morning for reminders about the schedule and other important things.  We haven’t been seeing everyone for the read alouds, which are both connected to our Social Studies curriculum, so we do hope students who aren’t there are listening to the recordings on time so they don’t miss learning from what we are reading.

Mondays:  Remember that Mondays are shorter than the rest of the week.  So Monday’s AM cohorts still arrive at 8:15, but get picked up at 10:45.  The PM cohorts then arrive at 11:45 and get picked up at 2:15.

Just a friendly reminder that we have a shortened schedule on Mondays. Please be on time for pick up as gates close promptly.

This affects bus drop-offs, so be prepared for the buses to arrive 30 minutes earlier than on other days.

Dear Open School Families,

Welcome back from a well-deserved Spring Break.

As you know by now, we will begin in-person school the week of April 19. If you opted to come to campus in-person, your request will be honored. If you opted for virtual learning, we are honoring your request. Cohorts will be announced in the next few days. Please note, cohorts have been made, we cannot make any switches at this time.

We are going to have a pickup on Friday, April 9th from 3 - 4 so that everyone can get their One School, One Book book, along with some things that are needed for the activities we will be doing with the book.  The reveal for what book we will be reading will be started at the Monday assembly on April 5th and will conclude during our morning meeting that day, so we hope everyone comes to the assembly!  If you can’t make it to the pickup, please let us know so that we can have your child’s materials waiting in the office for when you can get there.  We will begin reading on April 12, so the
