Growing With Green - October 25, 2016

Green Cluster authors had a wonderful time adding details to their “Zoo” stories.  Details make a story more interesting.  We counted across our fingers and made sure that we had at least five elements in our story.  We always end our writing session by sharing our stories.  The children did a wonderful job enriching their stories this past week.

In math we are continuing to create our own sorting sets.  We are extending our recognition of pattern sequences. We are learning about the number line and have been playing a game called “Guess My Number.”   We are continuing with ST math throughout the week, using desktop computers and iPads.

We will need some pumpkins (around 10) to begin a unit on pumpkin seed counting and estimation.  We would like pumpkins of varying sizes and shapes (ie: tall, round, squatty, elongated, symmetrical, etc.) for this project. Please send them in this week.  We will let you know when we have enough.

Here are some activities you can do with your child to reinforce what we are learning in class:
- Practice writing the number 3.
- Play “Guess My Number.”  Have your child think of a number from 1 though 30 or you can make it less (ie: 1-10).  Now you try and guess the number.  Your child’s response to you should be “too high” or “too low.”  When you guess the number, write it in the box!

               Have a good week!
