Help Open Hearts Serve Foster Youth in Los Angeles

During Spring Conference Week, Open Hearts will work on a project to help children in Foster Care in Los Angeles.

We are joining forces with Open School alumnus, Maddie, who is working on her Girl Scout Gold Award Project, which will serve the Foster Youth from the Los Angeles County area.  The project is important to Maddie because Foster Youth (especially Middle School age) are so underserved.  Maddie tells us that often when children transition to Foster Care from their home, or move between homes while in Foster Care, they are given a trash bag to take their few personal belongings with them.

Open Hearts is asking for donations of school supplies and personal hygiene products so that we can fill backpacks for these children in Foster Care.

Each cluster is requested to donate a specific item as follows:

All Clusters: Backpacks
Green Cluster: Toothpaste/Toothbrushes
Silver Cluster: Hair Brush/Comb
Red Cluster: Full-Size Shampoo/Conditioner
Indigo Cluster: Unused Washcloth
Orange Cluster: Pens/Pencils
Yellow Cluster: Paper/Notebooks
Purple Cluster: Binders/Folder
Blue Cluster: Highlighters/Markers

Open Hearts will have collection boxes in the office starting Monday, March 12th, and we will assemble the backpacks during Conference Week on Wednesday, March 21st through Friday, March 23rd.  If you are able to help us with assembling the backpack, please sign-up on Spring Conference Sign-up Genius or email (Adrianne Robertson).

Open Hearts is grateful to our generous Open School Family for their support of this worthwhile cause.
