April 12, 2019

Object Parade Information:

  • The parade is going to be the night of Open House, April 23rd, at 5:45 pm in the auditorium.  We are going to need a few helpers that night.  Please let us know if you can help kids on and off the stage during the show (we still need 2-3 people).  We will also be doing the show for many of the clusters on Thursday, April 25th at 8:15 am, so we also need 2-3 people for that show.  Let us know if you can help us out, please.
  • If you are going to pre-order pizza for your child to have that night, the orders are due on Monday, April 22nd.  The pizza will be ready at 5:00 that night.
  • Today we sent home forms for people who want to order a DVD of the parade.  Our amazing tech guru will be filming it for us and he does an amazing job, especially since his camera is connected to the microphones, so he gets really great sound.  It also includes a slideshow of each child wearing his/her costume.  DVDs are $15 each.

We realized today that we hadn’t reminded anyone of the book orders being due and many students said they still wanted to place an order.  So we’re going to extend the deadline until Wednesday.  There are a lot of wonderful books available and we’re excited to order a bunch of them for the classroom.

Ivan:  There are no assigned pages for the vacation, but some students need to use the time to catch up to where everyone else is.  It’s a truly wonderful book, so we hope you’re reading along with your child.

We hope everyone has a wonderful Spring Break!!

Homework

Building Tally: In order to help the students start thinking about planning their city, we sent home a building tally sheet.  They are supposed to tally every kind of building that everyone in their family goes to for the next two weeks.  Each building only gets counted once, so, for example, the place they live only gets one mark, not one mark for each person or each day.  There are detailed directions on the sheet that went home on Thursday.  It’s due on Thursday, April 18th.

Skillsheets as needed:  Our next skillsheet due date is at the end of April, so we told the students who had multiple packets still to complete that they should bring some home to work on over vacation.  Please check in with your child and support whatever needs to be done.

Practice the lines and songs for the Object Parade. This one is really important, since we won’t be in school to rehearse.  We want everyone to be fully ready for the performance when they get back!
