Resource / Activities list

Hi everyone!

We wanted to share some activity resources for you today, as well as resending links to all of the videos that we have made so far.

Here’s an epic scavenger hunt on a website called Padlet that is sort of like a bulletin board for sticky notes.  It has kids look around their house for certain things each day and then post a picture of what they have found on their own sticky note.  They can also look at what other people have posted.  Because it’s so big, the pictures can take a little while to load.

The author / illustrator Jarrett Lerner posts writing / drawing / cartooning activities regularly on his website.

And is sharing his new, unpublished book Knights of the Kids’ Table, a couple chapters at a time there too.

The author / illustrator Dan Santat (who has visited Open twice and we all love) is creating and posting activities that teach kids about things related to this experience (ie quarantine, virus) in an easy-to-understand but also fun way.  These also include challenges for them and opportunities to win prizes.

And here is a picture that someone else made of authors and other people who are sharing their books or doing other activities for kids online.  One that many students might be interested in is RJ Palacio who will be reading her book Wonder out loud every day at 11, though the platform isn’t listed.  From what I understand, many of these events are available even after the live event is over.

Also, the author Ralph Fletcher, who has also written many books for teachers about the craft of writing and how to teach it, is doing short writing lessons and activities for kids through his Facebook page.  I highly encourage you to check it out because he is amazing.

And here is the current list of all of the videos we have posted.  More will be coming soon!
