Daily Update: March 24, 2020 Revised

Good morning Indigo Families,

Happy Tuesday! Of course you know Tuesday is a shortened day at school with many of our students taking advantage of classes and other extracurricular activities. Carry on business as previously provided and spelled out regarding your daily activities for Reading, Writing, and Math. Then take advantage of some time to explore some of your other interests and involvements. We love seeing your awesome pictures in your at-home learning environment. Keep those coming! Also, since a need for specific math supports were not indicated, we will take the opportunity to Zoom into Math this afternoon for a short session from 1:00-1:30pm. If you are not able to join during this time, I will share the results of this session later today. In light of Superintendant Buetner's announcement yesterday regarding extending school closure, we are in virtual staff meetings this morning and will be in further communication with you soon.

Today's Highlights

It's an early dismissal day! Chess, violin, theater, coding? Get into something you enjoy exploring outside of school today.

Frequently Asked Questions(Either ones that were asked, or that you might want to ask!):

*Are we still having Parent Conferences?

At this time, they are cancelled.  If anything changes, we will keep you updated.

*Is it ok to break up the technology use for my child?

Yes it is.  They don’t have to work on everything all at once as there should be a break in the amount of time your child is looking at the screen.  We understand that you all would prefer more offline options, but with the timeline we were given to prepare for a potential school closures, we tried to make use of what students are already familiar with in addition to the packets that were sent home.

*Is there a Learning Plan in place to continue our child’s learning journey now that school is closed until May 1st?

We have been busy researching the best way to continue our instruction remotely until we can meet again in person.  Once we have something in place, we will update you.

*Can we still order books from the Scholastic Book Clubs?

Yes you may now order books from a their new Online Pop-Up Shop that was launched yesterday!  You can go to https://shop.scholastic.com/parent-ecommerce/clubs.html to shop and enter our class code MLF3N.
