Learning from Home Day 9

Good morning Green Cluster!!

It was so wonderful seeing so many of you on our Mystery Reader Zoom.  Thank you Michael and Tracie for reading us three wonderful books. Your voices and enthusiasm made our time together so special and it felt a little like our old normal.

How is everyone doing?  We are hearing from some of you on a regular basis (which we love), but haven’t heard from some of you in some time.  We know times are busy and possibly stressful, but if you haven’t sent us an email in while please feel free to reach and update us on what you have been doing.  We are missing you all terribly. If you need any help, please reach out. We want to make sure that you are comfortable with the work we sent home. We are in this together and we are here for you.

Over the last few days, Ms. Cass has sent out some amazing resources for this uncharted time.  If you haven’t had a chance to look through them, please check out Open’s web page. We are including this link to an article by Brene Brown that does a great job of summing up our new (hopefully temporary) normal.  https://brenebrown.com/blog/2020/03/21/collective-vulnerability/?utm_source=BBEARG&utm_campaign=5e09430882-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_22_12_59_COPY_06&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_6af12a6111-5e09430882-41581997

Our Mystery Reader is canceled this Friday due to teacher training.  We will be rescheduling.

It is supposed to be windy today, so for today’s fun activity lets play with wind and air!! Below are some options.

  1. Move round objects with paper fans, electric fans, and straws: Make an activity out of accordion-folding sheets of paper to make little hand-held fans (you could decorate the paper first, as another activity). Find round objects of different weights and sizes (e.g. balloons, oranges, various balls), use your different “wind” instruments to try and move the objects.  What do you notice? What “wind” instrument moves the most objects?
  2. Blow Painting - check out this link for a fun art activity - https://artfulparent.com/blow-painting-with-straws/

One last note, I (Ms. Jessica) have been taking daily walks around my neighborhood in Inglewood.  This is my get out of the house and get some fresh air and sunshine. I have been walking around my neighborhood, but after nine days, I am ready for a new walking route.  Yesterday I walked around the neighborhood of Windsor Hills, and was thinking about walking around the neighborhood by the school. If your greenie is interested in a “teacher walk -by” please let me know and I will do my best to plan a walk through your neighborhood.  You can come to the window and we can wave to each other and maybe even have a social distancing dance party (I have been doing those daily as well). If interested, send me an email at green.clusteratme.com

In partnership,

Jessica and Christine
