Daily Update: Monday, March 30, 2020

Good morning Indigo Cluster Families,

Just a reminder that this week we will observe a "shortened" day schedule Monday -Thursday with school activities, zoom calls, and office hours taking place up until 12:45 pm daily. The rest of the day, teachers will be in virtual professional development. Indigo Teachers will be hosting several zoom meetings this week and that information was shared with you in a separate communication (Language Arts Remote Learning Plan) that will not be published to the website for privacy reasons. In addition, small group math Zoom sessions will continue, so please look for that notification in your email as well.

This week we will officially kick off Office Hours.  Office Hours will be a time for your child to get more support with their curriculum.  It is a time for us to give them clarification, feedback, and support as needed. They can email us during those times and know that they will receive a response right away.   We will be using this time to respond to emails, but please note that our priority will be responding to students who come to us for support.  We will also have live office hours via Zoom for students at least once a week for them to ask their questions and get feedback as needed. These are not mandatory and they are drop in sessions.  Students don’t need to attend the entire time. They are used to offer extra support as needed.

I know you all got the robocall and email from Ms. Cass "officially" starting at-home learning. Well, we have Zoomed into our learning since last week, :) but their will be more Zoom meetings and other components added as well. We are actually quite excited about the opportunity to use some great online resources to integrate into instruction. Regarding Class Dojo, this is the main platform used by all Clusters and we will ease into it as we solidify how to use it in concert with some of the other technology resources we want to use. Stay tuned!

We also want to remind families that the Friends of the Open School auction is closing tonight at 10 PM. https://www.biddingforgood.com/auction/auctionhome.action?vhost=Openschoolauction   In addition, there is no school on Friday in observance of Cesar Chavez and next week is Spring Break!

Here are Today's Highlights:

1. Mondays at school, we enjoy time in the Garden with Mismak and Mr. Matt. Spring has sprung and there's so much to be done! Take some time today to participate in some gardening activities, either those sent by Ms. Cass from Mismak last week or some of your choosing.

2. Continue work based on guidance given for Language Arts and Math.

3. Please have your child log on for Roots of Respect Zoom at 11:30 am (check email sent for meeting ID, and password).

4. Please have your child log on Zoom at their assigned math time, if they have not already (look for email later today).

5. Have your child log on to ST Math and complete at least a 20 minute session.

Please reach out to us if you have any questions.  Thank you for all of your support.

Frequently Asked Questions(Either ones that were asked, or that you might want to ask!):

*Have you sent an email yet explaining how Classdojo will be used in Indigo Cluster?

No we have not, but will be sharing more information about it later this week.

*Why are their fewer activities during the school day this week?

This week the students are on minimum days because the teachers will be receiving professional development in the afternoons all week, so we were told to make sure our student’s schedule reflected a lighter workload.
