April 1, 2020 update

Hi everyone,

The read aloud for today is the one that was accidentally sent on Monday, so we’re sending it again and the assignment will be posted on Class Dojo.

A Hungry Lion or A Dwindling Assortment of Animals

Activity: As you are watching, please note every time you expected one thing but the story did something different.  What did the author / illustrator do to make you think one thing and then make it be something else?  How many times did that happen?

We also wanted to make you aware of some other wonderful opportunities happening around the web.

If your child is interested in coding, code.org is having a weekly Code Break class / event at 10 on Wednesday mornings.  It happens live, but is also recorded and posted on their website for later.  It looks like a lot of fun.  This will be week 2.

We also learned that every Friday Dav Pilkey of Captain Underpants and Dog Man fame, is posting a lesson or activity on the Library of Congress page.  We know our kids will just love that!  We think they will also be available afterwards, but please share that opportunity with your child.

And, here’s a website with a long list of drawing classes presented by famous illustrators.  The classes are all designed for kids, but some are for much younger children, so be sure to read the descriptions.

We would love to see some of what gets created based on any of these links we share.  The students can actually post to their Class Dojo portfolios without us actually creating an entry, so we would love to see pictures of their artwork there!

Expiration Date:
