Updates and Important Events to Come

Hello Inspiring Indigo Families,

It feels odd to be communicating with you here as we have transitioned over to the Class Dojo platform and this provides for such a steady stream of communication. There are several important things we need to share with you and in the interest of keeping the daily Class Story post a short sound bite of information for what lie ahead, we have opted for our trusty Mailchimp and website distribution. This email will be lengthy. It contains important information for this week and next. PLEASE READ ALL THE WAY TO THE END.

  1. Hopefully, this week during the suggested Garden, Coach, Art, Music and Coding/Choice Time (which is tomorrow) your child enjoyed some of these activities at home. Though Ms. Cass sent a link where all of our wonderful specialists put their contributions in one place, please forgive us for the oversight of not sending that to you as well. The specialist document is www.opencharter.org/sites/default/files/uploads/administration/Specialist Lessons - April 13-17.pdf In the future, we will post specialist offerings on ClassDojo as we did with our weekly schedule ( also found here) at the top of the week.
  2. PLEASE send pictures of your adorable children enjoying any of their at home activities. We love to see them happy and engaged. We are also trying to put together our annual Open Thoughts Anthology and these and other photos will be collaged to represent Indigo Cluster in lieu of our usual class picture. You may email those to our cluster email or post on ClassDojo. Thank you in advance.
  3. Be advised that while our Morning Read Alouds are provided by us, on Friday morning, please go to the specialist linked document (provide above) for Library time and a read aloud by Ms. Pam
  4. Also this Friday, April 17th at 1:00PM, we will have another Parent Check in Zoom meeting. We felt really good about how our first meeting went and want to continue to provide opportunities for you all to feel supported and heard not just by us, but by each other. This week was our first week with a full launch of Class Dojo and Seesaw. We would love to hear from you again and use that feedback to further tailor your and your child's at home learning experience.  We will post meeting ID and password to ClassDojo on Friday morning because this will go to Open's website.
  5. As discussed at our Parent Zoom meeting before spring break, we will have a pick up day for your child's materials. This will take place on Monday, April 20th at 1:00pm in lieu of Office hours for the day. You will receive a detailed email only pertaining to this with specific instructions on how this drive through materials pick up will work. Without going into details here, please be assured that the utmost care will be taken in the name of safety and cleanliness at every step of the way.
  6. Lastly, of course all of you are aware that Superintendent Buetner announced on Monday that we will not be returning to school this year. While this does not come as an extraordinary surprise, we feel what an extraordinary loss this is for us all. Our goal is to try our very best to provide a joyful pursuit of knowledge, positive memories and interactions, and a safe comfortable place for us all to experience the variety of emotions we are all feeling. We truly love your children, and please know this affection extends to each and every one of you. We are a team now more than ever! Please know that if you are having challenges that prohibit your child from participating in our curricular activities, reach out and touch base and let us know. In the midst of this global pandemic, we understand that priorities and circumstances may be ever changing and want to be supportive as needed.

That's all for now. Thank you and we hope to see you on Friday on Zoooooom!   ; )

In partnership,

Stacy and Regina
